Florida Representative Walter "Mike" Hill is attempting to defend his heartbeat bill (HB235). On March 14, 2019, he and Senator Dennis Baxley (who filed an identical companion bill in the senate, SB792) held a press conference organized by Florida Right to Life on "Right to Life Day." When confronted about the right to life of the preborn whose hearts had not yet begun to beat, he said:
"What we do is we save the children that we can . . . when we can. Let me give you an example. Let's say that there was a building on fire. And you could go in there, and you could only grab two. There are three children in there, but you can only grab two, and save their life. You're gonna go in and grab those two. That's all you can do. We're not gonna run by that building and say, 'Because we can't save all three, we're not gonna save any.' This is a step to save the ones that we can. And we're going to save those right now that have that heartbeat detected. That is our approach -- we're gonna save those that we can at this point. "
That almost sounds noble - except it isn't. Here's why.
Florida CAN save them all -- but they refuse!
- When you go into a burning building to rescue lives - you know it's your DUTY to attempt to rescue everyone.
- Even if it appears hopeless, you ATTEMPT rescue everyone you possibly can.
- NOBODY in their right mind would say, "We're just going to get 5-year-olds today. We're not even going to try to save the others, but we'll stand by and watch them die while helplessly wringing our hands. "
Florida CAN abolish abortion while also nullifying any higher court ruling or attempt to force an iniquitous decree. Multiple states have filed righteous bills of complete abolition. These bills contain clauses which, if passed, will require their state to grow a spine and stand up to the federal beast. The Supreme Court is NOT God --- it is not even the final arbiter of law! When a higher-ranking authority establishes an iniquitous ruling or an evil law, it is up to the lesser authority to ignore, defy, and if necessary, actively resist the tyrannical rule. This concept is called "The Doctrine of the Lesser Magistrates." Pastor Matthew Trewhella wrote a book about the Doctrine, and briefly outlines the concept in this 4-minute video.

In short, the burning building story is just that -- pure fiction.
Florida CAN save all the children in that house fire, but it isn't even trying!
It is throwing babies into the fire - sacrificing some in order to save others.
Florida lawmakers, do the job given to you by God Almighty! Protect the weak and establish justice!
